Project 62 Locomotive Group - Turn £2 to £20,000 Appeal

Following the successful rebuild and return to traffic on the East Somerset Railway of 30075 in July 2004, Project 62 now seeks your further assistance.

30075 now looks and performs superbly, in fact the loco crews at Cranmore believe that the engine performs vastly better than when it visited in 1997. The boiler is very free steaming and overall the locomotive is a credit to the teams that dismantled 30075 from 1998 to 2000 at Swanage and then rebuilt it at Cranmore between 2002 and 2004.

Even so, items such as replacement safety valves have been "borrowed" for a limited time period to enable 30075 to be launched back into service. These will require replacement in the next few months at an estimated cost of £1,500.

For a small monthly contribution you can help enormously. Over the next 10 years, by which time 30075 will be ready for its next heavy overhaul, if all Project 62 members signed up to a £2 per month direct debit donation, we would raise more than £20,000. Hence our appeal to you to "Turn £2 into £20,000". In a nutshell, for less than the cost of a pint of beer a month, you can help us raise a significant amount towards covering the next 10 years (and beyond) costs of service of 30075. By acting now, the amount we can raise in 10 years will also significantly reduce the time the locomotive is out of traffic when it undergoes its next heavy overhaul.
